7 Ways We Sabotage Relationships

By Theun Mares

We always try to win arguments even when we suspect we might be wrong.

We open arguments by immediately accusing the other person of doing something wrong rather than stating what it is that makes us displeased.

We fail to view a situation through the other person’s eyes.

We assume that others can always see things the way we do.

We needlessly criticize ourselves and others rather than acknowledging everyone’s good points.

We take things personally and become defensive, which makes us poor listeners.

We stubbornly hand on to our self-image rather than being open to change and to revealing who we really are.
